Using 2024 as the base year, Taiwan Paiho aims to reduce waste generation by 20% by 2030. This target will be achieved through the implementation of comprehensive tracking and management of material consumption and transfers across processes, reduction of process waste by improving yield rates, and the development of a sample inventory database to support waste minimization efforts.
In the production process of Paiho, the primary outputs consist of general industrial waste, sludge, and some hazardous industrial waste. General industrial waste consists mainly of textile residues, harmless sludge from wastewater treatment plants and furnace slag from certain overseas mills that use biomass as boiler fuel. Hazardous industrial waste consists mainly of chemical residues and mixtures thereof. Paiho does not conduct on-site waste disposal; all waste is transported off-site by licensed waste disposal contractors for treatment and reuse. Final disposal methods include incineration, landfill, solidification, and recycling.
